JUST AN FYI:

Since it has been a few years since I have really played with the blog, most of the links to the handouts that I have created have ceased to exist. I am sorry for that! I will be working to restore them over the next few weeks in hopes to make it easier on all of you wonderful people.

Until then, just right click on the photo and save as and then paste or insert it into a program like word or publisher or if you have a digital scrapbook program you can use that too. Also, feel free to get a hold of me at hysteria2483@gmail.com if there is a handout you would like but can't seem to get and I will see how I can help you out.

Again sorry for the problem...I didn't think it was possible until I went to click on a link and print one off.  I will update you as soon as the issue is resolved here or via my FB page (which if you haven't followed or liked it yet, head on over and do so as that is where most updates will happen first!).

New Theme and Expansion

So in my absence so much has been going on. I am still working on familiarizing myself again with Come Unto Me curriculum while also trying to come up with new activities. It is a lot easier to come up with them when you know you actually have to do them ;)

Anyway, have you heard what the new mutual theme for next year is? I LOVE IT and wish I was in YWs again to take advantage of all the cool things that can come from this theme! If you haven't read about it, you can go HERE and fins out all about it!

I have switched software, again, for making handouts and everything, so you should start to see some things coming out for this new theme. Hopefully, this new program makes it a little easier to create again. My last one was taking FOREVER to just create the simplest things.

Anyhoo, as you read in the title of this post, I am talking about an expansion to this blog. If you have followed me on FB, you would have already read about it (you can like my page by going HERE). I have just been called as an Activity Day Leader (for the girls in primary ages 8-11) and I couldn't be more excited. Now, you are thinking great how is this going to help me in planning my activities for YW? Well, this is my answer. I consider, after doing so research, that Activity Days is like mutual/YWs on Sunday, rolled all into one-just on a mini scale. A lot of the activities that can be done for one groupe can easily be adjusted to fit the needs of either group. So starting in the next few days, you will start to see a little bit more on the activity side for ideas and possibly handouts.

Thanks for your continued support and patience. Being a part time working gal while being a full time wife and mother has been a challenge at times and since this is my first go at motherhood, it has definitely been a learning experience.

To close, I hope you enjoy the new theme that the church announced and embrace this new change in my life. I know it will be great for both organizations! See you soon!!

In Case You Missed The Update

Like the heading says, in case you missed it, I had updated the link to the SNIPE bingo game that I had created for my girls to play at girls camp a few years ago. I have had several emails (many of which I did not see until recently and for that I apologize) that there were some issues with the link to download and then because the file that contained the boards was created in Publisher, not too many of you ladies had access to that program.

So, to help remedy that, I have updated the link and the file should be in PDF form and all that is needed is a program that will read PDFs like Adobe which you can download for free at their website.

So click HERE to be taken to the post and scroll down to the bottom and  you will see where I updated it.

Enjoy!

UGH...again

I am regretting to inform you that for a second....or third time my laptop (which has all of my designing stuff on it) is on the verge of finding itself on a one way flight out the window. Can you tell I am frustrated with it yet?
It is having issues yet again and I haven't been able to identify it nor has my tech guy and I am a little poor right now to buy another one...hey I am a full time college student who is not working because then I would never sleep. So it might be a while before I can post a handout... I will try to not let that happen. I think this is karma coming back to bite me for all the feelings I had previously mentioned.

I Am Back!!

OK...so not back in the sense that I have been recalled to the young women's organization but I am back and ready to get my ideas posted for all of you lovely leaders who are or have been missing my ideas.

I am going to be completely honest with you on my absence from the blogging scene. Yes, it is true that I have been EXTREMELY busy with school work and my new Sunday School calling oh and my laptop was having some serious charging issues (but after 3 LONG FRUSTRATING hours...I finally got it fixed...even though I had to take it completely apart). These, even though they are valid excuses, were really just a front to what I had been feeling inside.

You see I had loved being in the YW's...first as an assistant camp director and then two years as Camp Director and then a little over a years worth of being the 2nd Counselor in the presidency. I had felt that it wasn't my time to released (and still to this day I still question that choice) and I did hold some bitterness. I guess keeping this particular blog up to date was a little hard and a constant reminder of what I was doing. However, I have swallowed my get over it pill, pulled up my big girl undergarments and have just learned that being able to maintain this blog and help those of you who are in need of assistance or ideas.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding...but I am back and I am going to do my best to stay up with you guys!
So for my first post back, I thought I would share this story with you that I got in my email this morning from LDS Living.

"For the Strength of Youth" Over the Years
It is an interesting short read on how this wonderful pamphlet/book came about and the different changes that it has over gone over the years. I thought that since they book has been updated and some minor changes have been made to it. This would make for some type of mutual activity or game to introduce the new book!

Ugh....!!!

Well my dear sisters, i have some bad news. I had been asked to meet with one of the bishops counselors tonight (i guess that should technically read as last night) and was told i was going to be released on Sunday. I knew a change was going to happen but with our first counselor moving up with a stake calling, it was thought that i would be replacing her....it never crossed my mind, especially after a really inspiring temple session, that i would he released. I am still struggling with it the decision  as i still feel in my heart that i still have work to do among my young women. However, i can't exactly argue that with anyone who is in charge.

When i posted the news  on Facebook, i received emails and comments from some of you wanting me to continue my work via this blog. I am happy to say the because of all your kind and uplifting words i will be continuing to update and post on here. As hinted to earlier, i went to the temple to help me with my calling and received a great deal of inspiration which i am sad to say won't be able to see put in use for my young women to enjoy. So I shall live those visions out through you!

Thank you for all your support and all that you do for me. I am so glad to hear that for some of you my little out reach of creativity is able to help you in your calling. I can't tell you enough what that means to me. You are all amazing ladies and i consider you my friends. May you continue to be blessed and inspired as you serve in this organization. It truly is one of the best places to serve in. I have learned so much from just the short time i was in there. I will truly miss it. Thanks again for your love and support, and always remember that we are daughters of our heavenly father who loves us and we love him! Keep in touch!!!

Take a few moments and check them out!

Also I moved the Links to other blogs to a page of their own!
Let me know if you would like your page/blog listed!

Update! PPW

Personal Progress Wednesday as you probably have seen has been temporarily put on hold til after the holidays. Between school finals and the Christmas spirit, I haven't had much time to update and inform let alone work on any value experiences (unless I have been and just haven't realized it).

Will start back up after Christmas...be on the look out! I challenge you to do the same and join me on my journey. Grab my button for PPW and share with everyone your commitment to finish and/or work on your own Personal Progress. I would love to hear from you!!!

Why I Have Been Absent

It's been a crazy month and its only the 2nd! How insane is that?!? I just wanted to let you all know that I might be taking a short absent (about a week) starting Sunday. Its the home stretch of the fall semester and finals are just right around the corner (literally!). I have 3 huge papers due by the 9th that desperately need my attention....(I guess that means I should not get onto pinterest near as much..lol) and a Christmas party to attend to. *INSERT BIG LOUD GLASS SHATTERING SCREAM HERE*

Oh and I have also been busy creating a nice holiday countdown book. Obviously it wont be used for this year but definitely good for a gift this year. Been using my Cricut like crazy, so much that I have gone through a brand spanking new mat and two semi worn out mats. Good thing I found a post on pinterest about ways to refurbish the cutting mats...Zig Memory Stick (?) works like magic and its a pretty color blue...but sticky!!! LOL

Anyway, I wanted to give you a heads up about what will be happening on my end of this blog. I should say that I will be posting at least one more post for lesson #42 on preparing for change. I teach that lesson on the 11th so you all know that I will be creating handouts to go with that.

So until then...be safe, have fun and remember that we are daughters of a Heavenly Father who LOVES us!!

2012 Mutual Theme has been announced!!!!

OK this post deserves a different color...why? Because it is announcing some big news! Our wonderful and amazing church leaders have released (I guess it was released on Aug. 1) the new theme for next year:

"Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations." D&C 115:5

I have been anxiously awaiting this announcement and I am so thrilled about it. I have already heard comments from FB and other sites that have posted about this saying that it was done a few years ago, etc...but I think that it is something that needs to be reinforced especially concerning the status of our world, not just our nation as a country but the entire world. Things are happening all over that are scary and definitely starting to show the signs of the time *doom sound lurking in the background* and I think that this theme is a good reminder for the youth to let their light shine and have it shine forth to everyone. Besides the logo for the YW program is a torch that represents the light of Christ inviting all to come to Christ.

So yeah I am excited.... Click HERE for the official release from the church

Heads Up

From my previous posts you all know that I will be gone this week thanks to Girls Camp!!! Life has been pretty crazy at my house getting handouts, and lists made and trying to get everything done before I leave on Tuesday! So excited (although I am not to thrilled at the idea of becoming some massive group of mosquito's dinner...hopefully the bug stuff I have works well).

So with all that centers around camp, and if you have EVER been involved in the planning, you know how crazy it can get. So when I get back I solemnly swear to start back on making handouts (I have a TON to catch up on) and getting more PP ideas out there. Also I will be posting a tutorial on our Paper Bag Scrapbook/Journals once I get back from camp! Also...I have been working with another leader to create an awesome Mutual activity....its a TREASURE HUNT!! so make sure you are on the look out for that, which will be coming your way.

I am hoping to get caught up before school starts again...wish me luck. Thanks again to all my faithful readers. I would love for you to follow me here and on Facebook....links for those are on the side bar. I would also love to hear from you! Any ideas that you would like to have shared or if you would like to be featured or guest spot on this blog let me know!!! However, whether you follow me or not (its always nice to show a lil love) I do greatly appreciate you taking time out of your busy life to support this blog...it makes me feel like I am contributing in some small way!

Oh the Joys of Summer

I just wanted to take a few moments and update you with what is going on and what you will see being posted on We Are Daughters of a Heavenly King.

Girls Camp- it has sort of become my life right at the moment as it is coming up at the end of the month and I sort of have a double duty as being camp director and the 2nd counselor in our YW presidency (long story there) but I am grateful for it as it keeps me busy while I wait for the upcoming school semester to start.

I have a project that I am working on and will be posting closer to the day we leave for camp. It is a four part process and I am trying to keep it underwraps from the rest of my leaders and girls. However if you would like to know about it (and are not from my ward) email me  @ wearedaughtersofaheavenlyking@gmail.com and I will share with you what I am doing along with a PDF so you can see it. It would make for a cute camp project/ idea and I can change some of the pages to adapt to your theme or what not.

Now to the UPCOMING stuff- we are doing personal progress chocolate fondu tonight for our mutual activity. It should be fun but during all of this, we are suppose to be holding or interviews with each of the girls. Last time I was in that posistion I had no idea on what I should ask or how to conduct it. Needless to say I probably made the girls a little uncomfortable because I was uncomfortable (hey I had only been called to the YWs for about a month...). So I did some digging and found some really cute ideas that I know I could recreate and hopefully make someone else who may be in the posistion that I was in job a little easier.  So keep an eye out for those items.

Also I want to thank all of you who have emailed with questions and requests and have posted comments. I also want to thank everyone who reads this blog. I had no idea that people would even find it interesting and keep coming back for more. It really creates a desire to be more on top of it and keep creating items. I am truly blessed to know that I am helping others with their callings in YW. Please continue to express interest and comment/email with what ever!!! Because of you I keep this blog going!

UPDATE!!

Just to let you know I might not be posting anything for a few days to a week. My dog has had surgery and has to be under supervision until we can get the stiches removed and I am trying to make up some reading assignements from school at the same time. Please bear with me, I will post some new printables I have been working on and ideas for mutual activities and what not as soon as I get the chance. Again, thank you for the visit and check back in a couple of days or so for new stuff!

Remember: your a daughter of our Heavenly Father who LOVES you!

Update! Personal Progress Challenge

I just had to update you on how our Personal Progress Challenge game went during mutual this past Wednesday night. The girls AND leaders had a ball with it! They were very eager to get their hands on our buzzer (which I was glad to say was just a small squaky toy in the shape of a raccoon---anything harder than that would probably have caused some pain and bruises).

We also had Personal Progress Interviews/Evaluations  to see where each of the girls were (or rather to remind them that this was a perfect time to get started on their goals again). So as second counselor, I was over the Beehives and therefore was conducting interviews with my Beehive advisor, Sarah, and we were downstairs from where the game was taking place and their was a couple of loud "noises" that came thundering through the floor/ceiling. I sorta began to think that our bishops coffee table was going to come through the floor. Your probably wondering why we were at the bishops house and being so roudy is because our building is being remodeled so while the renovating is taking place, we meet for mutual at the bishops house since the bishops wife is the YW President. Anyway, I would definately try this game out if you are looking for a change to the regular PP activities
