New Theme and Expansion

So in my absence so much has been going on. I am still working on familiarizing myself again with Come Unto Me curriculum while also trying to come up with new activities. It is a lot easier to come up with them when you know you actually have to do them ;)

Anyway, have you heard what the new mutual theme for next year is? I LOVE IT and wish I was in YWs again to take advantage of all the cool things that can come from this theme! If you haven't read about it, you can go HERE and fins out all about it!

I have switched software, again, for making handouts and everything, so you should start to see some things coming out for this new theme. Hopefully, this new program makes it a little easier to create again. My last one was taking FOREVER to just create the simplest things.

Anyhoo, as you read in the title of this post, I am talking about an expansion to this blog. If you have followed me on FB, you would have already read about it (you can like my page by going HERE). I have just been called as an Activity Day Leader (for the girls in primary ages 8-11) and I couldn't be more excited. Now, you are thinking great how is this going to help me in planning my activities for YW? Well, this is my answer. I consider, after doing so research, that Activity Days is like mutual/YWs on Sunday, rolled all into one-just on a mini scale. A lot of the activities that can be done for one groupe can easily be adjusted to fit the needs of either group. So starting in the next few days, you will start to see a little bit more on the activity side for ideas and possibly handouts.

Thanks for your continued support and patience. Being a part time working gal while being a full time wife and mother has been a challenge at times and since this is my first go at motherhood, it has definitely been a learning experience.

To close, I hope you enjoy the new theme that the church announced and embrace this new change in my life. I know it will be great for both organizations! See you soon!!

2014 Theme Has Been Announced!

So the 2014 has been announced (OK so it was announced a couple of weeks ago) and I am in love with it! The theme fro this year is "Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness." (Moroni 10:32).
I think that the theme this year definitely goes with the Young Women's program since the symbol, the torch, represents just that, inviting all to come unto Christ.

So this is just the first of a few ideas that I have cooking up in my head. I know I haven't been great at keeping up with the curriculum this year but life has been pretty crazy between graduating from college and now becoming a working lady. Plus, not being in YW's has definitely played a part in it. So now that life is less crazy, I am hoping to be more with the program :D

So I am providing a few different links here. I should warn you that the program that I usually use has been giving me some issues and I have been waiting to hear from the company to send me a replacement file so turning the projects into PDF's has been nearly impossible for me. So please bear with me as I have had to resort in using Microsoft publisher to create.

I Just Had to Share this with You

As some of you may know I have moved from being an Idaho girl to becoming a Utah wife and yesterday when I checked Facebook, I saw a few posts from a few of the lady's that were in my ward from back in Idaho. I guess in Relief Society they had their President's Message/Lesson on the power of thoughts and the teacher, a good friend to my family shared this video with the sisters. Even though it was used for a Relief Society lesson, I think it would and could be easily used for Young Women's. I hope you find this as inspiring as I did!

Wouldn't this make for a great challenge or mutual activity or even Personal Progress. I just love it!

I Am Back!!

OK...so not back in the sense that I have been recalled to the young women's organization but I am back and ready to get my ideas posted for all of you lovely leaders who are or have been missing my ideas.

I am going to be completely honest with you on my absence from the blogging scene. Yes, it is true that I have been EXTREMELY busy with school work and my new Sunday School calling oh and my laptop was having some serious charging issues (but after 3 LONG FRUSTRATING hours...I finally got it fixed...even though I had to take it completely apart). These, even though they are valid excuses, were really just a front to what I had been feeling inside.

You see I had loved being in the YW's...first as an assistant camp director and then two years as Camp Director and then a little over a years worth of being the 2nd Counselor in the presidency. I had felt that it wasn't my time to released (and still to this day I still question that choice) and I did hold some bitterness. I guess keeping this particular blog up to date was a little hard and a constant reminder of what I was doing. However, I have swallowed my get over it pill, pulled up my big girl undergarments and have just learned that being able to maintain this blog and help those of you who are in need of assistance or ideas.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding...but I am back and I am going to do my best to stay up with you guys!
So for my first post back, I thought I would share this story with you that I got in my email this morning from LDS Living.

"For the Strength of Youth" Over the Years
It is an interesting short read on how this wonderful pamphlet/book came about and the different changes that it has over gone over the years. I thought that since they book has been updated and some minor changes have been made to it. This would make for some type of mutual activity or game to introduce the new book!

PPI- Check lists are here!

Finally got on the ball and created a Personal Progress Interview check list sheet for all of those, I mean me, who might need a little help in making sure that the interview isn't just a gab session. I have it both in a PDF and Word Doc so which ever you prefer to download you will have a copy of it.

Accept and Act: PP value exp. to go with lessons

If you are like me, you try to have the girls apply personal progress values experiences with each of your lessons as suggested in the resource manual. However, since you can only find the resource manual online, I thought I would create a PDF document that listed each lesson and the personal progress values that go with it. That way you can plan handouts or activities that would help the girls to pass off that particular experience.

Have you checked our the resource guide yet? It is pretty awesome if I do say so myself, it includes a ton of talks and media that fit perfectly with the lessons. Click HERE to be taken to it. Once there, just click on the second link to get just the guide or the first to get both the manual and guide.
